24th Mr Sikkim Bodybuilding & 7th Open Men’s and Women’s Physique Championship 2025 Kicks Off in Gangtok

Gangtok, August 23:  The Sikkim State Bodybuilding Association, affiliated with the Sikkim Olympic Association and supported by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, successfully hosted the 24th Mr Sikkim Bodybuilding and 7th Open Men’s & Women’s Physique Championship 2025 at Manan Kendra, Gangtok.

The event was graced by Mr. Raju Basnet, Minister of Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, Chairperson of the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, as the Guest of Honour.

A Milestone Celebration

This year’s championship carried special significance, marking the Silver Jubilee of the Association’s official registration under the Government of Sikkim. Aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of a ‘Nasha-Mukt Sikkim’, the event emphasized health, fitness, and community-driven participation. With over 200 participants, it recorded one of the highest entries in bodybuilding competitions across the country.

Cultural & Social Highlights

The championship was further enriched by:

  • A cultural dance performance by students of Tapashree Dance Academy.
  • Musical performance by Ms. Sherap Sangmu Bhutia and Mr. Noel Lepcha.
  • Distribution of gym equipment to Freedom Society, Sanjeevani Rehabilitation Society, and Sikkim Rehabilitation & Detoxification Center.

 

The event also witnessed the presence of Mr. Anil Raj Rai, Secretary of the Food & Civil Supplies Department, Presidents of various associations, and other dignitaries.

 

The program began with a welcome address by Mr. Arun Gurung, President of the Association, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Lakshmi Gurung.
